Poppy is a service dog whose job is to give her owner, Shannon, who suffers from epileptic seizures, a warning when a seizure is about to hit, and Poppy is usually able to predict the seizure 20 or 15 minutes prior. Because of Poppy’s accurate warnings, Shannon gets time to make herself safe. Additionally, during the seizure, Poppy licks Shannon’s face to help her come around quicker and to also get rid of any excess saliva that might cause choking.
