It’s kind of heart breaking story, it’s the rescue of Dori, and let me tell you, it’s very hard to see a dog in this condition. In December, 1, 2014, the SPCA Serving Erie Country’s officer Jessica Coughlin rescued Dori. They thought that Dori was a dead dog; they noticed her in the basement. When Officer Jessica arrived and checked it, she found that they are in front of a thick furry ball, but actually they are not, this is Dori’s body that is buried under pounds of fur that is knitted and matted. It was time to help Dori to survive.
When Dori reached the SPCA, the SPCA veterinary decided that the first thing that they should do is to groom Dori. They started to shave her, and it was very hard, at first they started to shave her, you won’t recognize where her head wass, it was a really hopeless condition. It was painful on her, it’s like shaving pieces of rock, you can see how Dori is laying silently, she is not anesthetized, she felt the pain but all that she wants is to move those rocks from her body. The picture of the matts removed from Dori’s body was completely horrible. After they finished shaving, they put her paws under x-ray to find out that there is a twine inside her paw, this twine is shattering her paw’s bone, yes, and it’s too much painful. When Dori came to SPCA, she was weighing 11 pounds but after shaving she is only 7.3 pounds.
Now, Dori is in the SPCA’s infirmary, she is comfortable and safe, thankfully, her owners now are charged with one count each of animal cruelty. Dori is searching for a home to adopt her and she needs to complete her recovery, so after you watch this, donate to the SPCA or share this video with your family and friends. Help in saving Dori.
