Authorities Catch A Monkey Thief Who Was Harassing Locals In India

A monkey has been captured with its hands tied behind his back, and a rope tugged around its ankles because it was harassing the community in Mumbai, India.

The monkey was caught by a professional monkey catcher after locals complained it was stealing food and tearing up pillows for six months.

There was a crowd gathered in the commercial Indian city, Sion, and they were delighted as the monkey was chained with its hands tied and a rope around its neck  before it was taken into a cage, according to AFP.

The monkey was one of three or four monkeys to have been tearing around the community in the Mumbai’s central district. Recently, local residents complained to a local municipal councilor about the unwanted guests.

When local residents saw one of the four unwanted monkeys on Friday morning, they called for a monkey catcher, who hot-footed it to housing block and set up a trap using fruit.

At some point, one of the people passing by aggressively patted on the forehead, and the monky showed him a full set of sharp teeth.

“We will make sure it’s fit and when it is, we will release him on the outskirts of Thane,” an official in the Maharashtra state forest department told AFP.

People think that this is justice and that is the punishment this monkey deserves. But, I don’t agree with the way they went about it.  I don’t know what these people were thinking of while chaining the monkey in that way, he isn’t a criminal at the end; just an animal trying to survive.

We agree that monkeys were causing harm and people will not tolerate their robbery. But at the end of the day, they are animals! What do you think about this story? Let us know and don’t forget to share this story with your family and friends!
