A dog is always more than just a pet. When you’ve spent a significant amount of your life with a dog, they become family, and there’s no doubt that dogs also think of us as family. Dogs are very loyal to their owners and anyone who has ever been good to them, and they are often more than ready to give love and compassion to whoever needs them.
Not only that, but dogs are known to be very protective of their owners. And contrary to popular belief, rescue dogs are no different than normal dogs. In fact, rescue dogs can be even more emotionally intelligent and loving.
This short film follows the very special story of Larry, Ruth Ann, and their dog, Thunder.
When Ruth Ann wanted to get a dog, she wasn’t expecting that she would return with a dog as big as Thunder, but she fell in love.
Thunder is a Husky/Shepherd mix who is now 12 years old, but never fails to leave a hugely positive impact on the lives of his mom and dad.
Larry, Ruth Ann’s husband, is a Vietnam war veteran who is blind in his right eye. When his doctors told him that he needed a service dog, he knew he couldn’t find a better dog than Thunder for the task.
So, Thunder was re-trained and he became ready to be Larry’s loyal service dog. As Larry says in the video, Thunder became his service dog and protector, but he never stopped being Ruth Ann’s pet.
In the video, the couple share many stories and anecdotes about Thunder that show us how much of an amazing dog he actually is and despite the fact that he is now 12 years old, it doesn’t stop him from brightening their lives every day.
